In aide of the community
Project Womn Inc. was established in 2020 by three friends – Amanda Yong, Ning Lai and Jewel Tan in Perth, Western Australia.
A surge of domestic violence reports in Western Australia during the initial nationwide Covid-19 lockdown was the primary catalyst for the Project Womn initiative. With the goal of raising funds to support local charities that assist victims of domestic violence, Amanda, Ning and Jewel launched their inaugural pop-up food and wine pairing dinner, highlighting the best of WA’s produce and wine.
This initial event was a resounding success, and the beginning of a series of similar fundraising functions, each supporting a different local charity that offers assistance to women, children, or families in need.
Despite the departure of Jewel from the Project WOMN Inc team on April 2022, we are pleased to welcome our newest member on board, Sophie Sharland - General Manager of Endeavour Foods, who has a strong influence in the WA Hospitality industry. She is excited to use her passion for good food and wine, wealth of knowledge to make more of a positive difference and give back to those in need.
A common drive - a shared passion
Parallel to the trio’s desire to help those within the community affected by hardship, a shared love of fine food and wine, and a genuine appreciation of the many local producers and wineries that WA has to offer, has helped propel Project Womn’s events to local acclaim in a relatively short space of time.
All three members are fully involved in every aspect of event planning and execution - from curating the menus and painstakingly preparing dishes, to coordinating each event from start to finish.
The Project Womn team hopes to collaborate with other local chefs, entrepreneurs, and entertainers, and expand its initiative around the state in order to continue to raise funds and awareness for important charitable work.
